THE TROLL PROJECT
Troll behavior challenges the transformative potential of interactive technology. Trolling hotspots can indicate oversights in community design pathways.
The Troll Project explores the motivations, experiences, and impacts of trolls through immersive experiences. We are made up of professionals in psychology, community development, game design, and super-users of social-immersive applications.
Since early 2023, we have been meeting trolls where they are at and asking questions like:
How is “trolling” different than “bullying?”
What do you do if you see trolling?
Why do people troll?
Why do people troll?
“Usually when I troll, it’s to make friends. I’m just trying to find people who have the same humor as me, who are willing to get silly with me.”
